We talked about racism, the new Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn, and to Steve’s taste at least, not enough about his new album.
On ‘cultural appropriation’, Steve said:
“I don’t think ‘cultural appropriation’ is theft. At most, it’s poor taste – though of course, it depends on how you approach it. If you appropriate something superficially and bank on its exotic appeal, that’s exoticism. I find that funny rather than offensive, though. To me, it just seems like the hippie bands of the 60s with their zither solos.”
The same issue of M&R contains my review of the ‘Deathwish’ hardcore festival in London.
